I’m so excited to share these awesome wavy to curly hair products with you today!
Being a curly girl can be tricky until you figure out how to take care of your beautiful locks and learn the products that work best for you. A couple years ago I discovered the curly community on Instagram and oh my gosh- there are some great tutorials on there!
That’s how I learned about the Curly Girl Method. I wish it had existed when I was a kid!

Growing up no one knew how to take care of my curls. My mom has straight hair and my dad would just cut out tangles.
Conditioner was a game changer. It prevented many unexpected trims.
If you want to follow the curly girl method, look for products that are made with no sulfates, silicones, parabens, or phthalates.
Below you’ll find some of my current favorite products for wavy to curly hair. I plan on keeping this page updated regularly, so you may want to bookmark or pin this page to check in later.
For reference, my hair tends to live in the 2c to 3b range.
Let me know your thoughts in the comments & if there are any great products I should try!
Shampoo for Curls:
I don’t have as many shampoos to recommend because I don’t use shampoo everyday, and I haven’t since I was in high school.
I use conditioner way more, often just washing (co-washing) and detangling with it.
Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus –
I like the smell and how my hair responds to this shampoo. When I use this shampoo my scalp doesn’t get as dry as it tends to with other shampoos, especially in winter.

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse-
I DIY this one with a little travel bottle that I fill with ACV that I add to my scalp after rinsing out the shampoo. It gives a nice gentle exfoliation and softens my hair while helping to reduce frizz.
Noelle at Coconuts and Kettlebells has a great post about an ACV rinse.

Conditioner:
Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus –
This one is a bit thicker, so probably better for more coarse hair rather then fine. But it’s quite hydrating when my hair needs extra hydration.

Cantu-
This one is a nice affordable option.

Not Your Mother’s Tahitian Gardenia Flower & Mango Butter-
A nice drug store option. This one smells so good and gives a nice slip, which is good for detangling.

Wavy to Curly Hair Styling Products:
Gel:
Eco Style Gel – Argan Oil
Good hold makes this a nice and affordable drug-store option, which was great just before my recent haircut. I needed to use lots of product since my hair went past my waist. 😲
I’ve only tried the Argan Oil version so far.
Eco Gel – Buy on Amazon
Curls Blueberry Bliss Curl Control Jelly-
Great hold, amazing scent, and no sulfates, silicones or parabens.

Jessicurl, Spiralicious Gel-
Great hold and smell. I’ve only used the citrus lavender scent, but it also comes in Island Fantasy and fragrance-free options.

Bounce Curl Light Creme Hair Gel Lotion
A lighter hold gel, this one gives less hold for looser curls.

The continuous spray is nice for refreshing curls or saturating hair to help detangle.

Blowout Brush
Sometimes I like to straighten my hair but it can take a couple of hours to dry straight and then use a flat iron. This BondiBoost blowout brush cuts that time down so much!
You can dry and style your hair at the same time. So awesome!

Microfiber Towel-
Good for plopping and micro plopping to dry hair while minimizing frizz. Devacurl has a nice option, and I also like the Aquis one.
Curly Hair Accessories:
Silk Scrunchies –
I love that scrunchies are making a come back! I’ve been using these silk scrunchies and they have been great for my hair. They don’t get stuck and break the hair like normal hair ties – hooray!

Silk & Satin Pillowcases –
They feel great, reduce frizz and are good for your skin too. I’ve gotten this silk one from Amazon and I’ve found satin ones at TJ Maxx.

Silk / Satin Scarf –
A silk scarf is helpful in so many ways for a curly girl. Use it to wrap your hair up at night, use it as a headband or drape it over your head before tugging on a shirt to keep those curls intact!
