I’m so excited to share my favorite skincare products of 2020 with you. When you find something that works and makes a difference you just want to tell everyone about it!

Before 2020 went all sorts of crazy places, I had decided to make it the year to focus more on skincare. I figured if I took better care of my skin then my makeup would go on better and I wouldn’t feel the need to wear as much makeup.

The other reason was to add some pampering and self-care into my routine. My body has been through the ringer with the fertility medications I’ve taken over the past couple years. Some weeks have been beautiful, glowing skin goals and others have had angry blemishes around my chin.

Girl, if you’re going through a rough spot in life it’s so important to take care of yourself.

Below are the products I tried out that I am still using and would purchase again. My skin type is combo but mostly dry. My 2020 goal was to even out skin tone and hydrate.

Do keep in mind that everyone’s skin is different and skincare is personal. What works for me may not work for you and vice versa.

Cleansers

Biossance Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Oil

Blasts through makeup and isn’t stripping on my skin. Especially during winter months I need ALL the hydration. Emulsifies nicely with water and rinses off easily.

I use this cleanser in the evening only.

Available at Biossance and Sephora.

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Hydrating Gentle Cleanser

I used this as a second cleanse at night and was really impressed. It is so gentle and hydrating – just what my dry skin needs. This cleanser contains their prebiotic thermal spring water, niacinamide and ceramide-3. Great for a gentle cleanse that won’t destroy your skin barrier. The bottle I got was 13.52 fl oz, which is a good amount.

I mostly use this cleanser in the evening after the oil cleanser. If I feel like my skin needs it, I’ll use this in the morning, however I usually just quickly rinse with lukewarm water. Since my skin is pretty dry skipping a morning cleanse works better for me. After rinsing I then put on any serums, moisturizer and sunscreen.

Available at Target, Ulta and drugstores like Walgreens.

Serums

Cosrx Snail Mucin Power Essence

This is a Korean skincare product that is supposed to keep your skin hydrated and it does just that. The texture is like a thick, almost slimy serum but for me it absorbed quickly and added a nice extra layer of hydration.

I use this one daily am and pm.

Available at Ulta and Amazon.

Biossance Squalane + Lactic Acid Resurfacing Night Serum

This gem is my favorite 2020 find. When I tried this one I saw a difference overnight. I wish I had taken pictures, it was that big of a difference. Lactic Acid is an AHA (alpha hydroxy acid) so it’s a chemical exfoliant that helps to gently remove dead skin and improve the texture of your skin.

I use this one 3x/ week in the evening.

Available at Biossance and Sephora.

Moisturizer

CeraVe Moisturizing Cream

I’ve actually been using this moisturizer for a few years now. I’ve tried several others that were just not hydrating enough and I keep coming back to this one. It’s a really solid basic moisturizer. This cream has 3 ceramides, hyaluronic acid and no fragrance. I get the 16 oz tub which lasts close to a year. It’s also available at most drug stores, for a good price and I like that I don’t have to order it online.

I use this daily am and pm.

Available at Target, Ulta, Amazon and drugstores like Walgreens.

Sunscreens

Biossance Squalane + Zinc Sheer Mineral Sunscreen

This sunscreen is really nice. It has a serum-like texture that leaves no white cast. Like the other Biossance products on this list, the sunscreen uses plant-derived squalane which adds extra hydration. I really liked the lightweight finish too.

Available at Biossance and Sephora.

Versed Guards Up Daily Mineral Sunscreen

I wanted to include this sunscreen too, because it is also a really nice product. This sunscreen is tinted, so it leaves no white cast even though it’s a mineral sunscreen.

I use sunscreen daily in the morning.

Available at Versed and Target.

Device

PMD Pro RQ

I got this cleansing brush as a gift from my husband. I had been wanting a cleansing brush, but didn’t like how you have to constantly buy new brush heads. That’s one of the great things about the PMD Clean devices– the silicone brush head doesn’t need to be replaced.

I used the brush side for cleansing with my second cleanse in the evenings. The first 2 vibration settings are recommended for cleansing and the second 2 are for use with the opposite side, in my case rose quartz. There is a heating element and you can use that side to help apply serums so that they sink in better.

I did notice that using this device my skin felt smoother and pores were less congested. I really liked using the rose quartz side after long rehearsals (I play a brass instrument) for a little embouchure massage.

This brush is available from PMD , Ulta , Sephora and Amazon.

So that’s my 2020 Favorite Skincare Products

I’ve noticed that with consistent use and being gentle with applying products my skin is less red and congested. I’ve had very few blemishes other than the hormonal ones that pop up. Overall 2020 was a good year for my skin. We’re now into January and my skin isn’t dry and flakey so 2021 is off to a great start in that regard.

Remember when you try out new skincare to introduce one product at a time, in case you have a reaction. Go slow when introducing actives and always wear sunscreen.

You deserve some pampering today.
