If you need some birthday ideas for a husband, you’ve come to the right place, my friend.

Your husband has been amazing this year- he’s helpful, supportive, and your rock during the chaos. Maybe he changes diapers, keeps up with dishes, or takes care of you when you’re under the weather.

He deserves to be celebrated.

He deserves more than just new socks and undies.

You want to do something special, fun and beyond the ordinary for him. You are an awesome wife, after all.

These ideas are all along the lines of activities or experiences that your guy might enjoy to make his day extra-special. (If you’d like a list of gift ideas let me know in the comments section and I’ll make that post for you.)

Husband Birthday Ideas

1. Axe Throwing-

Unleash his inner Paul Bunyan with this manly birthday idea. Learn to throw different types of axes toward a large wood target. Play games and perfect your technique. This is a fun and interactive activity that he’ll be sure to enjoy.

If your local axe throwing joint is also a bar you can often enjoy some liquid courage in the form of local brews.

Check the World Axe Throwing League’s website or search for “axe throwing near me” to find a location.

2. Top Golf –

Top Golf is a multi-tiered, high-tech driving range. They have different colored targets for each distance. A touch screen in your bay lets you pick from different games to play.  Their high-tech golf balls track their distance and scores themselves.

Whether you’re aiming for specific targets, trying to rack up the most points, or just seeing how far you can whack the ball you will have fun with this activity.

They provide clubs, but you are welcome to bring your own. It’s fun for more avid golfers, amateurs, and even novices.

Top Golf offers a full restaurant and bar menu that you can order from while you play.

3. Putt-putt –

Keeping with the golf idea, putt-putt is a classic lowkey activity. The nostalgia is real with this one.

Our local putting place also has batting cages and offers drinks and ice cream. Occasionally they have a food truck visit too.

4. Archery –

Archery is a fun sport to try. Most clubs will provide equipment for your first time trying it.

You can find an archery club, shooting range, or local park as some offer lessons. This website has a list of clubs and you can search for one near you.

5. Go to a Museum –

Take him and the kids to his favorite museum or find one you’ve never been to before and go explore.

6. Go to the Zoo –

In addition to the fun of visiting his favorite animal, some zoos offer unique events.

For example, the Cincinnati Zoo has their Wild About Wine and Zoo Brew events which are adults-only experiences where you can sample adult beverages while enjoying live music and special animal encounters. The Columbus Zoo has Zoofari, Comedy for Conservation, and Wine for Wildlife.

7. At Home Date Night –

If you want a more budget-friendly option or your guy wants a low-key night then an at-home date may be perfect. Any of these ideas will make for a fun and special night in with your guy. Many of them will work for just the two of you or the whole family.

8. Camping –

Take him on a camping trip to his favorite spot or send him off with his friends.

9. Kayaking/ Paddleboarding –

Both of these water activities are great for hot summer days. Check your local parks to see where they are available and for rental prices.

10. Go to a Movie –

It has been soo long since we have seen a movie in a theater. If your hubby is a movie buff like mine, this has been one of the activities he’s missed the most during the pandemic.

Let him pick the film, and get his favorite snacks.

11. Game Night –

Grab his favorite board games and invite his friends over for a game night. You can keep it simple and order pizzas and have plenty of snacks and cake.

Some of my hubby’s favorite games for game night are Sheriff of Nottingham, One Night Ultimate Werewolf (Are You A Werewolf variation), Telestrations, What The Film, and Cards Against Humanity

12. Concert –

Take him to a show by his favorite musician. You’ll need to check tour dates and purchase tickets from the venue’s box office or Ticketmaster.

13. Weekend Getaway-

For a weekend getaway, I usually look for a place within a 4-hour driving range. Once you start looking, you’ll find there are plenty of neat cities and smaller towns that are perfect for a quick weekend away.

If you’re in the Midwest check out places like Bardstown, Hocking Hills, Gatlinburg, Mackinac Island, and Sleeping Bear Dunes.

National and State Parks are fun to visit and may have activities you can try out like archery, SUP, or canoeing.

If you get travel points there may be a website you can book your stay through or check out a smaller rental through Airbnb or Vrbo.

Enjoy your hubby’s birthday!

There are so many great ways you can celebrate your man’s special day. Whatever you end up planning, you are both sure to have a great time.

And he’ll certainly appreciate your effort to make his day extra special and fun.
